One such is Eden, in which Chef Cornelius Gallagher has completely rethought the menu, bringing an eclectic mix of worldwide dishes in an a la carte and seven course set for both carnivores and vegetarians. Cabins to avoid are those deep in the bowels of the ship on Decks 3 & 4, particularly those just beside the Martini Bar, where you’ll get a lot of ambient noise till late. There’s also a fun new spot – the Annex – a multi-use space you can hire by the hour for simulated sports and karaoke.

Five movable video boards provide backdrops while parts of the stage can raise and lower. A center section in the ceiling allows performers to drop from the roof while the lighting and sound features are world class. During the evening live music is played and there’s no better spot to enjoy a fun evening out with your traveling partner. Boarding at Terminal 25 in Fort Lauderdale, Ascent makes a strong first impression.
Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport
Kids are welcome and there is a kids area for them to play while parents enjoy. Outside of that, however, there isn’t a ton — especially on the pool deck. Kids won’t have a bad time, but other lines and ships would be better. Overall we were extremely impressed from bow to stern with Celebrity. It is definitely a different experience if you’ve sailed larger mass market lines including sister line Royal Caribbean. At night, it changes into more of a lounge with live music and shows, including “Smoke and Ivories” — a cabaret-style show that’s above and beyond.
On the Resort Deck, you’ll find one of the most popular spots on every Celebrity Ship—the adults-only Solarium. Relax on a luxurious lounger while you enjoy your favorite book or perfect the art of napping. Grab a light bite for breakfast or lunch at The Spa Café and Juice Bar or order your favorite beverage or cocktail from your waiter. The Solarium offers a perfectly serene atmosphere where you can restore both your tan and your sanity. Our newly enhanced AquaClass stateroom experience is more ahh-inspiring than ever.
Celebrity Ascent will sail to the Caribbean out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. The line has also traditionally been extremely welcoming to LGBTQ+ passengers, and has long been recognised for that. Meet-ups for solos and LGBTQ+ passengers take place daily, and a Pride Night is held every cruise. The 3,260-passenger ship was christened by two godmothers – Captain Sandy Yawn of Below Deck fame and her sister, Michelle Dunham; and also has two captains, brothers Dimitrios and Tasos Tafetzis.
Celebrity Ascent Staterooms
Having just sailed on Celebrity Apex last week, comparing the two ships so closely together was an intriguing opportunity. Elsewhere, all four main dining rooms and the buffet, punch way above their weight when it comes to serving quality cuisine. Celebrity Cruises is no slouch when it comes to food, and dining on its latest ship is no exception. The nearby Rooftop Garden now has two plunge pools either side; and the Rooftop Grill is more enclosed for windy sea days. Celebrity Ascent is the same length as Celebrity Beyond and includes the extra deck added to its sister ship. The table below will help you understand what you might spend onboard a Celebrity ship.
The Club, Celebrity Ascent's nightclub, is a cozy two-deck venue that's home to dance parties, as you might expect. However, it's also where you'll find daytime sporting events like street curling and "Game On," interactive gaming with an '80s theme where passengers use their bodies as controllers to manipulate projections on the floor. The lounge's 90-m / 295 ft long ramp envelops the entire space and provides panoramic views. The lounge's unconventional furniture and interiors are designed by Patricia Urquiola (Spain). She also designed the lounge's "Library of Plants" (living garden) and the hanging plant pillars.
Three stories of windows bring in the shimmering morning light to create a bright and airy atmosphere, and change as the mood shifts from breakfast to lunch, plus al fresco dining is available on either side of the café. Step inside and discover the delicious ambiance — a modern classical design centered around Italian fashion and film. Savor mouthwatering cuisine inspired by authentic southern Italian eateries, featuring all homemade pastas prepared with a rustic flare.

And it’s been repositioned to the front of the ship with panoramic floor-to-ceiling views. Explore exclusive menus crafted by our Michelin-starred chef that you won’t find anywhere else on board, including signature dishes designed by Daniel Boulud, our Global Culinary Ambassador. Eden Restaurant is in the multi-story glass fantail of the ship, offering inventive cocktails andglobal cuisine with playful twists (truffled huitlacoche risotto, anyone?). The lounge has an outward-facing design and combines a signature gastronomic experience (light lunch, 5-course dinner, wine tastings) with live performances, daily lectures, promo events. In the evening, the lounge transforms into "Eve at Eden", with more provocative entertainment (fusion of performance art, dining, and nightlife.
For those not yet familiar with Celebrity, it’s part of Royal Caribbean Group’s portfolio of cruise lines. Aimed at a more upscale experience, you can think of it in car terms to get an idea of its positioning in the market. Cabins are also delightfully modern, in muted tones and an impressive number of outlets in avariety of forms (USB or universal electrical for plugs from various countries) with spaciousbaths with glass-walled showers. Bath amenities are graduated by room category—top-end suites have bath amenities from Le Labo. Rooftop Garden Grill has also been re-arranged, thanks to Ascent being a bit longer.
With the line's emphasis on high-quality art and entertainment, the ship understandably attracts passengers for whom such amenities would be a draw—so expect well-traveled sophisticates among the ship’s company. If I think of Celebrity cruise ship, I usually think of their lawn and garden top decks, and Ascent has an expanded area to enjoy. Views of the ship's wake have always been a favorite of cruisers, and this Sunset Bar doubles down on those views. This is the bar to go to on a sea day to enjoy a view of the ship's wake, the sun rising and setting, and the ocean breeze inbetween. Elsewhere, Celebrity Ascent has the same deck plan as its sister, with standout spaces including the Nate Berkus-designed Sunset Bar, which has been completely remodelled in a Moroccan design and serving food from that region.
Follow our social media and blog for the latest cruise and travel news, including our best vacation deals. Watch the world go by with a cocktail in hand as live pop and folk tunes play. With a casual country club atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to soak in spectacular views. Enjoy lunch or dine under the stars at the Rooftop Garden Grill, nestled perfectly in its own delicious corner of the Rooftop Garden.
Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. Name one other ship helmed by siblings who will drop anchor and take passengers out for lifeboat races. Reservations are essential; I was unable to snag one but heard mixed reviews about both the food and the show's plot.
